Timbers2 open 2024 campaign with a scoreless draw at Real Monarchs

HERRIMAN, Utah – Timbers2 opened their 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season on the road tonight, playing to scoreless draw against the Real Monarchs at Zions Bank Stadium. Notably, it marked the first time T2 has earned a point in an MLS NEXT Pro season opener. Following regulation time in tonight’s match, Portland dropped the extra point to the Monarchs in a close penalty kick shootout (5-4).

Timbers2 is set to host El Farolito SC in the First Round of the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Providence Park on Tuesday, March 19 with a 7:30 p.m. (PT) kickoff. T2 will make its first appearance in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup since 2015, when they reached the third round of the tournament. El Farolito SC is an amateur team of the National Premier Soccer League based in San Francisco, California, playing their home matches at Boxer Stadium. The team is best known for its 1993 U.S. Open Cup championship under its previous name, Club Deportivo Mexico. Following the Open Cup match, T2 will then host their regular season home opener against The Town FC on Friday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) at Providence Park.
