PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers2 (No. 2 seed) will host St. Louis CITY2 (No. 7 seed) in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference Quarterfinals at Providence Park on Friday, Oct. 16, with a 7pm PT kickoff, it was announced today. Tickets for the match are free to the public and available for redemption here.
In their first season under head coach Jack Cassidy, Timbers2 finished the 2026 campaign with a club-best record of 14-4-10 (57pts), qualifying for the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs for the first time in club history and securing the Pacific Division title. Additionally, Portland closed its 2026 campaign on a 12-game unbeaten streak (6-0-6), the longest such stretch in the league, while also leading the league in road wins (9) and clean sheets (14), a new single-season MLS NEXT Pro record.
In two meetings with St. Louis this season, Timbers2 earned stoppage-time comeback results for a win and a draw on July 18 and Sept. 14, respectively. Playing away at CITY2, Portland earned all three points on the road in thrilling fashion after netting an equalizer in the 86th minute of play and then striking in the first minute of stoppage time to steal the victory at Energizer Park in a five-minute span. In their matchup at Providence Park, Timbers2 salvaged a point in regulation by burying a 90+4th minute equalizer from the penalty spot, going on to win the ensuing shootout to register an additional point.
The MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs will run for four consecutive weeks, culminating with MLS NEXT Pro Cup the weekend of November 6. All matches will air live on OneFootball.com and MLSNEXTPro.com.
