Algarve Cup | Thorns FC's Nadia Nadim and Dagny Brynjarsdottir both score in tournament action action

Nadia Nadim, Algarve Cup, 3.2.16

In today's Algarve Cup action, Thorns FC forward and Denmark international Nadia Nadim started and scored the game's only goal in a 1-0 victory over Christine Sinclair's Canada.

In the 55h minute of the match, a bouncing ball found Nadim in the box, who finished past a flat-footed Stephanie Labbé.

Thorns forward Christine Sinclair didn't start the match, but came on in the 68th minute for 16 year-old Deanne Rose. The substitution came too late, as Canada proved unable to overcome Nadim's second-half goal.

Meanwhile, Iceland defeated Belgium 2-1 behind a late game-winner from Thorns FC midfielder Dagny Brynjarsdottir. Brynjarsdottir's goal came in the 91st minute.

On Friday, Canada will play Belgium (7 a.m. PST), while Thorns teammates Nadim and Brynjarsdottir will square off against one another as Denmark plays Iceland (7 a.m. PST).
