PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC announced today that five players have been named to the 22-player U.S. Women’s National Team training camp roster for a pair of friendlies against Australia on Nov. 26 and Nov. 30. Thorns FC goalkeeper Bella Bixby and forward Morgan Weaver earned their first call-ups with the USWNT, joining midfielder Lindsey Horan, defender Becky Sauerbrunn and forward Sophia Smith. Vlatko Andonovski will select an 18-player roster for match days.


Bixby and Weaver have participated with U.S. U-23s WNT in camps and matches. Weaver most recently was part of an USWNT Identification Camp in Dec. 2019 after her senior campaign at Washington State. This will be both players’ first camp with the full national team.
Horan (106 caps), Sauerbrunn (197 caps) and Smith (10 caps) all played in the USWNT’s friendly matches against the Korea Republic in October. Smith recorded an assist, while Horan recorded a goal in a 6-0 win over Korea Republic on Oct. 26.
The Nov. 26 match will take place at Stadium Australia; kickoff is set for 8 p.m. (Pacific) on FS2. The match on Nov. 30 will be held at McDonald Jones Stadium; with a kickoff time of 1:05 a.m. (Pacific) on ESPN.
