EA FC 24 | Across the roster, the Thorns Ultimate Team cards are fire

Sophia Smith's 88 rated gold card is second highest in the NWSL

EA FC 24, the latest edition of the globally-popular soccer video game, drops Sept. 29 and Thorns FC players dominate in it.

To catch up, EA FC 24 is the newly branded version of the classic soccer game from EA SPORTS. There are over 19,000 players across 700 women's and men's teams representing 30 leagues from around the world.

This season, the popular Ultimate Team mode where gamers can collect player cards to build skilled online teams to challenge friends head-to-head includes the ability to mix and match women's and men's player cards together for a prime XI.

The Thorns roster is stacked with options. No player is rated lower than a silver and there are a whopping 16 player cards rated gold. Here's a few highlights.

Sophia Smith

The real-life current NWSL Golden Boot leader Sophia Smith is a shining 88 overall, putting her in a tie with KC's Debinha for the second highest rated card in the NWSL. Her blindingly fast Pace of 93 – good for second in the league behind Trinity Rodman – highlights the card while her Shooting (85) sits third in the league behind Alex Morgan and teammate Christine Sinclair.

Christine Sinclair

Speaking of Sinclair, the all-time international leading goalscorer and Canadian legend has a very strong 83-rated overall gold card. Her Shooting, as mentioned, is an 86 – one above Smith – while her Passing and Dribbling are very strong 83 and 82 respectively.

Becky Sauerbrunn

Defender and USWNT stalwart Becky Sauerbrunn's 85-rated gold card is the second highest rated card on the Thorns roster. A four-time NWSL Defender of the Year winner and seven-time NWSL Best XI honoree, it should come as little surprise that her sterling 87-rated Defense marks her as the best-rated defender card in the league.

Bella Bixby

Goalkeeper Bella Bixby, another gold-rated card, is a heady rated 84 overall card which puts her in a tie for second highest rated goalkeeper card in the league. Among the talented Portland shotstopper's top marks is a 85-rated Diving ability – second in NWSL – and a league best 89-rated Reflex rating.

Additional Names

Top to bottom, the Portland roster is full of interesting cards. Crystal Dunn's well-rounded 84 overall card includes four categories of 80 or higher: 87 Pace, 83 Passing, 85 Dribbling and 81 Physical. Among secondary characteristics, Hina Sugita has a 92 Agility rating which is second-highest in the league while Meghan Klingenberg's Crossing is an 84 – fourth highest in the NWSL.
