Five Thorns FC players named to U.S. Women's National Team roster for January training camp

PORTLAND, Ore. â€“ Portland Thorns FC midfielders Lindsey Horan and Allie Long, defenders Meghan Klingenberg and Emily Sonnett and goalkeeper Adrianna Franch have been named to the 26-player U.S. Women’s National Team roster for the team’s training camp set for Jan. 6-21 at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif., it was announced today. 


The January training camp will conclude with a friendly match against Denmark on Jan. 21 in San Diego at San Diego County Credit Union Stadium. The Jan. 21 match will be broadcast on ESPN; kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. (Pacific). 


Franch, Horan, Long and Sonnett were called into camp ahead of a pair of friendlies against Canada in November 2017. Franch and Sonnett (12 caps) did not appear in a match. Horan (43 caps) started both matches against Canada on Nov. 9 and Nov. 12, while Long (33 caps) made a substitute appearance on Nov. 9. Klingenberg (73 caps) returns to the roster for the first time since the USWNT’s European trip to square off against Norway and Sweden in June 2017. Midfielder Tobin Heath was not called into camp due to an ankle injury.
