Thorns FC defender Madison Pogarch is teaming up with San Diego Wave FC (and former Thorn) defender Christen Westphal for a special Pride Month fundraiser benefitting The Trevor Project with donations being entered to win prizes from both players, Jersey Mike’s Subs and other Portland stores.
The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQIA+ youth. Their mission is, “To end suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning young people.”
Pogarch and Westphal are encouraging fans to donate to The Trevor Project through a GoFundMe link:
Here’s the steps to enter:
- Donate $30 or more
- Send Pogarch a receipt – screenshot to her Twitter or Instagram DM
- Follow: @trevorproject, @ettaandjamesjct, and @portlandleather on Instagram and/or Twitter
As Pogarch wrote in an Instagram post, “Pride month is a celebration! It is also a chance to be a visual embodiment that it is not only safe to be your whole self, but it is also liberating. It’s a reminder that you’re loved, accepted, and more than enough as you are: in your entirety.
“A crucial message to those who are still on their own journey of acceptance.”
