Ahead of the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, Thorns FC defender Meghan Klingenberg – a member of the U.S. Women's National Team for the 2015 Women's World Cup title – joined up with soccer host Eric Alvarez for a special series of in-depth interviews around players to root for at this summer's World Cup.

Titled My New Favorite Futbolista, and presented by the storytellers at NBC and Telemundo in partnership with Lemonada and On Her Turf, the podcast introduces some of global soccer's most inspiring players and the causes they champion. A number of the guests also just happen to be Thorns stars as well.

In one of the first episodes, Klingenberg and Alvarez talk with Portland midfielder and Costa Rica international Rocky Rodríguez about her path to Penn State to becoming the 2016 NWSL Rookie of the Year to the Rose City and now the eve of the World Cup.

Klingenberg and Alvarez also talk with Rodríguez's – and Klingenberg's – teammate on the Thorns, Crystal Dunn about her challenges of being a "Super Mom" while balancing her career and aims for the U.S. on the international stage.

Future episodes feature more Thorns and international stars such as Becky Sauerbrunn (June 21), Christine Sinclair (June 21) and Sophia Smith (July 19).
