Finland squares off against Iceland, Scotland in friendly matches
PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC defender Natalia Kuikka was named to the Finland Women’s National Team roster for upcoming matches during the July FIFA window, spanning July 10-18. Kuikka will depart for international duty after Thorns FC’s road match against NJ/NY Gotham FC on July 9.
Kuikka (76 caps) and Finland will play two matches during the window. First, traveling to take on Iceland in Reykjavik on July 14 before playing host to Scotland in Finland on July 18. These matches are games in preparation for the UEFA Nations League tournament which is set to begin in September.
The Thorns FC defender has appeared in 13 of Portland’s 14 regular season matches in 2023, making 12 starts. Kuikka has logged 1,100 minutes for Thorns FC, tallying one goal and two assists.
