The Portland Thorns Academy is holding select clinic dates over the week of Spring Break for players born in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014. Players will get to play on the Thorns FC and Portland Timbers home pitch at Providence Park, while working on skills and play 4v4 and 9v9 games.

Current Thorns Academy coaches will be in attendance running the sessions, while current players from the ECNL teams will be assisting them. “This is a great opportunity for players to come and see what the academy is all about. To play in one of the best soccer stadiums in the world for women’s soccer,” said Thorns Academy Director Tracy Nelson.

Sessions will run for one and a half hours and will be broken into several different pieces. Beginning each session with skills and technical work, then moving into games will challenge players to take those skills and apply them into their game. “Playing both small sided and larger scale games allow the staff to see individual and team skills. Can a player take players on when they have space but also be able to recognize when the appropriate time to pass is?” said Nelson.

Join us on March 24, 29 and 31 at Providence Park. Register today online. Clinic times vary based on the date and age group and no walk-ins will be allowed.
