PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have signed defender/midfielder Gabby Provenzano to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season, the club announced today.

“Excited to have Gabby back with us for another year,” Portland Thorns FC General Manager Karina LeBlanc said. “As she's grown and developed these past two years she’s become someone that can be relied upon both on and off the pitch and we are looking forward to watching her continue to advance her game as a member of the Thorns.”

Provenzano first joined Thorns FC ahead of the 2022 season as the team’s 22nd overall pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft. In her two years with the Club, Provenzano has appeared in nine matches, across all competitions, and was part of the 2022 NWSL Championship squad.

“We are pleased that Gabby has chosen to continue as a Thorn for the 2024 season. She continues to show growth in her game and is a fantastic presence and personality within our roster,” Head Coach Mike Norris said. “We are excited to have the opportunity to continue to push and challenge her and see even more growth.”

A native of Sergeantsville, N.J., Provenzano attended Rutgers University where she recorded five goals and three assists in 103 matches for the Scarlet Knights. In 2021 Provenzano helped Rutgers win its first ever Big Ten title, of any kind, before eventually advancing to the NCAA College Cup. For her contributions in 2021 Provenzano was named the Big Ten Defender of the Year.
