Providence Bridge Pedal is Aug. 11; Plan ahead for Thorns-Courage match

Bridge Pedal, 8.7.19

This Sunday’s Portland Thorns FC match on August 11 against the North Carolina Courage (12pm, TICKETS, ESPNews) is the same day as the annual Providence Bridge Pedal. As a result, road and bridge closures will be in effect in downtown Portland and may affect your trip getting to Providence Park. Please plan on arriving early to the match to avoid delays. We encourage all supporters to take public transportation, bike or walk to the game if at all possible.

The following bridges will be affected:

  • Fremont Bridge:  Upper deck traveling west/south will be closed until 12 p.m. noon
  • Hawthorne Bridge:  Eastbound lanes will be closed until 11:30 a.m.
  • Marquam Bridge:  Upper deck traveling north will be closed until 11 a.m.
  • Morrison Bridge:  Open both directions with eastbound lane restriction until 11 a.m.
  • Ross Island Bridge:  Westbound lanes will be closed until 10:30 a.m.
  • Sellwood Bridge:  Open both directions but north sidewalk and bike lane closed until 9:30 a.m.
  • Steel Bridge:  Eastbound lanes will be closed until 12:15 p.m.

TriMet Eastside MAX Route Updates

From now through Aug. 17, TriMet crews will be improving MAX tracks between Interstate/Rose Quarter and Lloyd Center/NE 11th Ave MAX stations. MAX Blue, Green and Red lines will be disrupted, and there will be no trains between N Interstate Ave and Lloyd Center/NE 11th Ave MAX stations. TriMet is providing shuttle buses to transport passengers between Lloyd Center and Rose Quarter. At the Rose Quarter station located on Interstate, they will then catch a blue line train to head west toward Hillsboro.

Due to the change in operation, it will take fans a little longer than normal to arrive at Providence Park from the eastside of town. Also, post-game will be limited in its extra train service. TriMet will have two extra trains ready for post-game westbound movement, but only one extra to head east and take people to Rose Quarter.
