The matchup is set. San Diego Wave FC defeated the Chicago Red Stars 2-1 in extra time, booking their ticket to Portland.
The Thorns will play host to the Wave in the semifinal round of the 2022 NWSL playoffs at Providence Park on Sunday, October 23. The club is donating a portion of the ticket proceeds to local charities selected with Thorns FC players.
Portland (10-3-9, 39 pts) earned the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, qualifying for the postseason for a sixth consecutive campaign. It also marks the fifth time in six seasons Thorns FC have earned a top-two finish in the NWSL. The match will mark the first meeting between Portland and San Diego in the NWSL playoffs.
The winner of the Oct. 23 playoff game will advance to the 2022 NWSL Championship presented by Budweiser at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, October 29. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.
