In a month that saw Portland Thorns FC go undefeated (3-0-1) and only allow one goal across four matches, it should come as little surprise that three players – two defenders and a goalkeeper – would be named to the NWSL Team of the Month for July.
Defenders Meghan Klingenberg and Emily Menges along with goalkeeper Bella Bixby all earned TOTM honors from the league on Friday.
Bixby teamed up with her defenders to earn three clean sheets across the four matches while Klingenberg and Menges each earned an assist apiece for the month. For Menges, it was her first career NWSL assist as she set up Simone Charley in a 2-0 win over Racing Louisville.
