With a loss July 29 at Angel City FC, the Thorns (2-3-0, 6pts) have been eliminated from advancing in the Challenge Cup. OL Reign (4-0-1, 13pts) have clinched their spot in the Challenge Cup semifinals by winning the West Division. A matchup between Cascadia rivals will make for a fierce final Challenge Cup matchup.

The Thorns have brought the heat to their opponents all throughout the tournament. Portland leads the competition in shots on target with 39 in their five division matches. Leading the way is 17-year-old midfielder Olivia Moultrie, who through her five matches played (four starts) in the 2023 Challenge Cup, leads the tournament with nine shots on goal.


With her goal at Angel City FC, forward Morgan Weaver is now tied for first in goals scored in 2023 Challenge Cup play with three. She joins a five-way tie for the lead with one more match to add to her haul in this year's cup.


Rookie defender Reyna Reyes has been an iron-woman for Portland in this season's Challenge Cup. She has started all five division matches, logging 423 minutes - the most by any Thorn in the cup this year.


As Portland looks to wrap up Challenge Cup on a high note, the club has registered nine all-time wins in Challenge Cup play since 2020, which is third-most in the history of the tournament.
