Canada finishes 2015 with a pair of matches against Brazil
After tying Mia Hamm with 158 career international goals on Dec. 13, forward Christine Sinclair was unable to surpass Hamm on the all-time scoring list last week as Brazil knocked off Canada in two matches, including the final of the 2015 Torneio Internacional de Natal.

Brazil edged Canada 2-1 in the final round-robin contest of the tournament on Dec. 16, while Sinclair did not get on the score sheet she helped setup Josée Bélanger’s 42nd minute goal.

The two teams squared off again four days later in the tournament final on Dec. 20 and, despite Canada opening the scoring in the 46th minute, Brazil scored three unanswered goals to secure a 3-1 win. Sinclair’s quest for sole possession of second place on the all-time scoring list continues in February with Olympic qualifying.

Shim, Iga FC fall in quarterfinal round of Empress Cup
Iga FC’s season came to an end on Dec. 19 in the quarterfinal round of Japan's Empress Cup. Mana Shim logged 30 minutes as a substitute in a 4-1 loss to NTV Beleza.

Despite the loss, Shim got to enjoy some world-class soccer in Tokyo, taking in the final of the Club World Cup between Spain's Barcelona and Argentine side River Plate over the weekend.

Polkinghorne and Brisbane best Betos and Sydney FC
Brisbane Roar earned a win over the weekend against Sydney FC and goalkeeper Michelle Betos as Clare Polkinghorne notched a goal for the Roar in their win.

Up Next: Sydney FC takes on the Melbourne Victory on Saturday, Dec. 26, while the Brisbane Roar play league-leaders Melbourne City FC on Sunday, Dec. 27.
