After opening W-League action last week, a trio of Thorns FC players returned to action this weekend, suiting up for their Australian club sides.

Friday evening, Thorns teammates Britt Eckerstrom and Emily Sonnett met up for at McDonald Jones Stadium for an evening match between Eckerstom's Newcastle Jets and Sonnett's Sydney FC. With both teams fresh off week one wins, each sought a result to jump to the top of the table. Eckerstrom and the Jets denied Sonnett and the Sky Blues, as they pocketed a 2-0 win at the end of regulation. Both players each started for their sides, going the full 90 in the match, as Eckerstrom earned a shutout in her second win of the season.

Later Saturday afternoon, Celeste Boureille and Brisbane Roar FC matched up with Perth Glory at SunCorp Stadium. Boureille started in midfield for the Roar, who sought their first win of the year. However, despite playing to a 1-1 draw in the first half, Brisbane was defeated by the Perth Glory who rode a Rachel Hill hat trick to a 4-1 victory.

Boureille's Roar and Portland teammate Hayley Raso did not feature in the match as Brisbane wanted to rest the forward after a long NWSL campaign.
