Portland Thorns FC and Your Local Toyota Dealers are partnering to honor difference-makers in the Portland community throughout the 2018 NWSL season. For Sunday’s match against the Houston Dash, we’re proud to honor Desi Nicodemus. Desi is a 4th and 5th grade teacher at Lot Whitcomb Elementary in Milwaukie, OR. Before moving to Oregon, he taught in China, Turkey and Brazil. Desi works part time on a grant with the Carnegie foundation, NEA and NCSD to hire and retain teachers of color so that our student population has more teachers that look like them and to promote teaching as a career. Congratulations to Desi, our Community All-Star!
