PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have announced their updated preseason roster as the team continues preparations for the 2022 NWSL season.
Midfielder Hina Sugita arrived in Portland over the weekend and began training with team on Tuesday. Midfielder Olivia Moultrie is currently away with the U.S. U-20 Women’s Youth National Team at the 2022 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship. Moultrie started in two of the three group stage matches, tallying one goal as she helped the U.S. U-20s advance to the knockout round of the tournament. The USA will face Suriname in the Round of 16 on Friday, March 4, at 12 noon (Pacific).
Thorns FC will host a preseason tournament at Providence Park, beginning on Saturday, March 5, with the Chicago Red Stars, OL Reign and the U.S. U-23 WNT. Portland and OL Reign will square off on Saturday; kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (Pacific). Chicago and the U.S. U-23 WNT will face each other in the opening match at 2:30 p.m. (Pacific). On Tuesday, March 8, Thorns FC play host to the U.S. U-23 WNT at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific), while the second day of games begins with Chicago taking on OL Reign at 5 p.m. (Pacific). Portland concludes the preseason tournament against the Red Stars on Friday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific), while OL Reign and the U.S. U-23 WNT square off at 5 p.m. (Pacific).
