Andressinha, Thorns vs. Reign, 7.5.19

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC and midfielder Andressinha have mutually agreed to part ways, it was announced today.

“We are fully supportive of her returning to Brazil in search of more playing time,” said Gavin Wilkinson, general manager and president of soccer for Thorns FC.

In 2019, Andressinha appeared in seven games (four starts) for Portland in her second season. She tallied one goal and started in her first career NWSL playoff game in the semifinals against the Chicago Red Stars.

“To all the staff, my teammates and the fans in Portland, you welcomed me in an heartwarming way during my time with the club,” said Andressinha. “Even a few thousand miles away from the people I love, you made me feel at home. Thank you all for all the support.”

The Brazilian international was acquired by Portland ahead of the 2018 season in a trade with the Houston Dash. In two seasons, Andressinha appeared in 22 matches (13 starts), while also appearing in two playoff matches, including the 2018 NWSL Championship game at Providence Park.

“Andressinha is a fantastic player and person, who has been very important to our club for the past two years and I want to thank her for her commitment,” said Thorns FC head coach Mark Parsons. “I’m excited to see her move back to Brazil and have a fantastic year of preparation ahead of a big Olympics for herself and her country.”
