Thorns FC midfielder Celeste Boureille joins French club FC Fleury 91 on short-term loan

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Thorns FC midfielder Celeste Boureille has joined Division I Féminine side FC Fleury 91 on a short-term loan, it was announced today. Boureille is under contract for the 2021 season.


Boureille, 26, appeared in five matches, making three starts during the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup. In the tournament, she started and played all 90 minutes in preliminary round matches against the Chicago Red Stars on July 1 and OL Reign on July 13. She also featured in both knockout round matches, starting and playing 45 minutes in Portland’s semifinal match against the Houston Dash on July 22.


Since signing with the club in 2016, Boureille has made 61 appearances (48 starts) across all competitions for Thorns FC, logging 4,373 minutes. During the 2019 regular season, Boureille made 10 appearances (seven starts) and logged her first career NWSL assist.


FC Fleury 91 has competed in Division I Féminine since 2017. The club was promoted to Division 2 in 2012 and earned promotion to the top league in 2017 after winning the league title. During the 2019-20 season, FC Fleury finished seventh in the league standings, improving on a ninth place finish in 2018-19.
