Thorns FC's Morgan Weaver named to 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup All-Tournament Team

PORTLAND, Ore. – The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) today announced that Portland Thorns FC forward Morgan Weaver has been named to the 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup All-Tournament Team.

The Thorns FC forward appeared in five of Portland’s six Challenge Cup matches in 2023. Weaver finished the tournament with three goals in 185 minutes of action, including the game-winning goal in a substitute appearance against Angel City FC on May 31. Entering the semifinal round of this year’s tournament, Weaver ranked fourth all-time in goals (6) and tied for fourth-most games played (22) in Challenge Cup. Additionally, her three goals in 2023 were tied for second-most in this year’s competition. Notably, Weaver is one of just two players along with Debinha to score in every edition of the Challenge Cup.

The 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup All-Tournament Team was selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis, and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent.
