2023 NWSL Golden Boot Smith winner joins list of the best and brightest in North America

Joining the likes of sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, WTA tennis star Jessica Pegula and Olympic swimmer Kate Douglas, Thorns FC forward Sophia Smith was named to the 2024 Forbes 30 Under 30 list for North American sports.

The 2023 Golden Boot winner, NWSL Best XI honoree and FIFA 2023 Women's World Cup veteran, Smith was included in Forbes' annual list of some of the best and brightest individuals in their respective fields. Smith, 23, led the league with 11 goals in 16 matches in 2023, while also adding five assists. Smith was one of two players in the NWSL this season ranked among the top five in both goals and assists. The Thorns striker recorded two hat tricks during the regular season and became just the third player in league history to net two hat tricks in one season. Smith also scored in five consecutive matches (June 3-Aug. 20) as she became the third player in league history to register multiple scoring streaks of four or more matches.
