Coffey earns Best XI of the Month honors for the second time in 2023. The Thorns FC midfielder started and played every minute in the month of August for Portland. On Aug. 20 against the North Carolina Courage, Coffey helped Thorns FC become the first team in league history to earn a win after a first-half red card and finished with a game-high four tackles won. Coffey notched her NWSL-leading seventh assist of the campaign in Portland’s road draw against the Washington Spirit on Aug. 27. In 2023, Coffey ranks fourth in the NWSL in chances created (32) with a passing accuracy of 81.7 percent.

Weaver recorded one goal and one assist in three matches across all competitions in August. Her five chances created in two regular season matches ranked tied for second-most during the month. The Thorns FC forward tallied Portland’s lone goal on the road – her fifth goal of the season – against Washington on Aug. 27. She also provided the game-winning assist for Thorns FC in their 2-1 victory over North Carolina on Aug. 20. This season, Weaver is one of only three players (Alex Morgan, Sophia Smith) in the league with at least five goals and four assists.

The NWSL Best XI of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis, and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent.
