PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC today announced that the club has signed Swiss international forward Ana-Maria Crnogorčević. She will be added to the roster pending the receipt of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

“With the injury to Caitlin Foord it was imperative we added a quality option to help our attacking group,” said Gavin Wilkinson, general manager and president of soccer for Thorns FC. “Ana is a talented player and a tremendous addition to this team.”

Crnogorčević, 27, joins Portland from Frauen-Bundesliga side FFC Frankfurt, where she has played the last seven seasons. During her time in Germany, Crnogorčević helped lead Frankfurt to the 2015 UEFA Women’s Champions League title and a German Cup in 2014. Across all competitions in the Frauen Bundesliga, Crnogorčević appeared in more than 190 matches, tallying 41 goals for both Frankfurt and Hamburger SV.

“Ana brings class, experience and a proven record at the club and international level to Portland,” said Thorns FC head coach Mark Parsons. “She is a versatile forward with a winning mentality and has a great desire to be the best. She competes with a tireless attitude and her ability to create and score will be a great addition to our roster.”

At the international level, Crnogorčević is the Switzerland Women’s National Team’s all-time leading goal scorer with 50 goals in 101 appearances. Crnogorčević helped lead Switzerland to its first-ever berth in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015 and the Women’s European Championships in 2017. At the 2015 World Cup in Canada, she played in all four matches, helping Switzerland to the Round of 16, recording a goal and an assist.

Crnogorčević will arrive in Portland following the upcoming April FIFA window.
