PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have signed forward Michele Vasconcelos as a National Team Replacement player, the club announced today. Vasconcelos will be added to the roster pending the receipt of her International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

Vasconcelos, 28, was originally drafted by the Chicago Red Stars as the 11th overall pick in the 2017 NWSL Draft out of BYU. She appeared in 31 regular season matches with Chicago, tallying three goals and three assists during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, while appearing in six games during the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup before she was traded to Utah Royals FC. In Sept. 2021, Vasconcelos made the move to Sevilla FC in Spain, playing the 2021-22 Primera División Femenina campaign after beginning the NWSL season with the Kansas City Current.

National Team Replacement players can be signed when a national team player is away on international duty and will not count against the team’s roster limit.
