Thorns FC unveil primary, secondary kits for 2022 season

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC today unveiled their primary and secondary jerseys for the 2022 campaign, the club’s 10th season in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).Designed by Nike, the two new kits employ an overall black, red and white color palette. Providence remains as the front-of-jersey partner and TikTok returns with a placement on the right sleeve.

“For the Thorns’ 10th season anniversary, we wanted to commemorate the history and success of the club with its classic black, red and white color scheme with homage to the thorn,” said Mike Golub, president of business for Thorns FC. “Our collaborators at Nike embodied the past and the future with these kits as we celebrate a decade in the NWSL.”

The black and red primary kit features a black color base with a thorns-inspired hoops element in “Challenge Red” wrapping around the back of the jersey. The full kit is completed with pops of red across black shorts and socks. Inscribed on the neck tag reads B.A.O.N, the supporter-inspired ethos meaning ‘By Any Other Name’ in a custom typography unique to the kits.

The secondary white kit features a light-grey collar and sleeves that include red and black piping on the cuffs. The team crest introduces a special two-tone color application, a tonal grey paired with accents of red for the championship stars and the thorns emblem. The taping down the side of the jersey has an embossed Thorns FC wordmark featuring the same script from the neck tape on the primary jersey. White shorts and socks finish the full kit.

Each kit also contains a special silver NWSL jock tag celebrating the 10th anniversary of the league in 2022.

The club is set to debut the new primary black kits on the field this Friday, March 18,, wearing them in their first match of the 2022 Challenge Cup against OL Reign. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific) at Lumen Field with a stream available on Paramount+.

The new primary and secondary jerseys will be available online at www.ptfcauthentics.com starting Friday, March 18 at 9 a.m. (Pacific). The kits will go on sale at the PTFC Authentics primary team store, located on the corner of Morrison and 20th outside of the stadium, beginning at 11 a.m. (Pacific) Tuesday, March 22.
