USWNT calls up Sophia Smith, Crystal Dunn, Becky Sauerbrunn, and Sam Coffey

They'll join the US training camp for a pair of games in Europe during the FIFA window

Portland Thorns FC midfielders Sam Coffey and Crystal Dunn, defender Becky Sauerbrunn and forward Sophia Smith have been named to the 24-player U.S. Women’s National Team training camp roster for a pair of friendly matches in Europe against England and Spain during the October FIFA window, it was announced today.

Coffey (1 cap) earned her first international cap in the September FIFA window, starting and playing all 90 minutes against Nigeria on Sept. 6. Dunn (123 caps) trained with the USWNT during the September FIFA window but was not on the roster for matches. She will be available for selection during this window. Most recently, Sauerbrunn (208 caps) started against Nigeria on Sept. 3, logging 90 minutes. Smith (21 caps) started both matches for the USWNT in September, tallying a brace against Nigeria on Sept. 3.

In this FIFA window, the USWNT will travel to play England at Wembley Stadium in London on Oct. 7; kickoff is set for 12 p.m. (Pacific) on FOX. The U.S. squares off against Spain in its second match of the trip on Oct. 11. The match kicks off at 11:30 a.m. (Pacific) on ESPN2 at El Sadar Stadium in Pamplona.
