Timbers midfielder Yimmi Chara named to MLS Team of the Week for Week One

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers midfielder Yimmi Chara was named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week One, the league announced today.

Chara helped the Timbers earn a 2-2 draw against the New England Revolution in their 2022 MLS regular season opener Saturday at Providence Park. Through a bicycle kick, the Cali, Colombia native scored his 11th goal for Portland to level the match in the 78th minute. Chara also tallied his 16th assist for the Timbers. It was the third time Chara has recorded both a goal and an assist in a single game for the Timbers.

The Timbers are back in action on Sunday, March 6 when they travel to Banc of California Stadium to take on LAFC. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific) on FS1 and FOX Deportes with radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
