PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today selected two players in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas. Prior to the draft, Portland acquired $75,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM) and $50,000 in 2025 GAM from Nashville SC in exchange for the 11th overall pick. The Timbers selected winger Kyle Linhares from Georgetown University in the second round (No. 40 overall) and forward Gage Guerra from the University of Louisville in the third round (No. 69 overall).

“We are pleased with the outcome of this draft, as our goal was to maximize a return with our first pick, while still adding a few prospects with long-term potential,” said Timbers General Manager Ned Grabavoy. “We are focused on finalizing a few key pieces this offseason and are excited to get our preseason underway in the coming weeks.”

Linhares, 21, made 76 appearances (53 starts) in his four-year career at Georgetown University (2020-2023), tallying seven goals and 18 assists for the Hoyas. He recorded a career high 14 points (5G, 4A) as a senior in the 2023 season.

A junior at Louisville, Guerra finished the 2023 season with seven goals in 13 appearances (all starts) for the Cardinals. He started his collegiate career at Army, where he played in 33 matches (28 starts) for the Black Knights from 2021-2022, tallying 15 goals and four assists.
