– Portland Timbers forward
David Hague
was selected as the USL First Division Player of the Week for Week 13 with a three-goal performance against the California Victory on Sunday, it was announced today. Hague is the third Timbers player to earn Player of the Week honors this season.
Additionally, Portland defender
Scot Thompson
was selected to the USL First Division Team of the Week for the second time this season.
Hague, who entered Sunday’s match as a substitute in the 67th minute, scored all three goals within a 20-minute span to lead the Timbers to a 4-1 win over California at PGE Park. With the first hat trick in the league this season, Hague helped the Timbers claim first place in the USL First Division. Last season at Grand Canyon University, Hague, 25, led the NCAA in scoring with 33 goals.
Thompson earned Team of the Week honors for Week 13 with his one-assist performance in a 1-0 win over California on July 13 at PGE Park. In the 53rd minute, Thompson threaded a pass to forward
Bryan Jordan
racing through the box. Jordan only needed two touches before he buried the ball into the back of the net. Thompson’s assist was his first of the year and his first since 2005.

(Week 11) on the list of Timbers who have been named USL First Division Player of the Week in 2007.
The Timbers (9-2-3, 30pts) face the defending USL First Division-champion Vancouver Whitecaps (7-5-6, 27pts) at PGE Park on Thursday at 7 p.m. Thursday’s match will be televised on FSN Northwest, and the first 2,000 fans will receive t-shirts presented by FSN. The Timbers are 6-0-3 at PGE Park this season.
