Over the weekend, the Timbers held their annual open tryout. Nearly 90 participants from all parts of the Northwest, the United States and even the world, competed through two days of drills and full-field scrimmages.
After unseasonably warm weather for Day 1 of the tryout, Day 2 was a different story as rain drenched the day's activities. The first day of the tryout featured small-sided games throughout the morning session, followed by 11 v 11 scrimmages during the afternoon. Day 2, however, was a series of full-sided matches to help coaches get their final impressions of the trialists in game action.
Some familiar faces stopped by to check in on the two-day open tryout, including midfielder Tony McManus, defender Cameron Knowles and goalkeeper Steve Cronin.
