Match Preview:
The Portland Timbers conclude a stretch of three home games in seven days tonight as they play host to the defending-champion Montreal Impact at PGE Park. Tonight's game also wraps up the two-game, regular-season series between the two sides.

After a quick start in April, posting a 3-0-1 record, the Timbers enter tonight's match still looking for their first win in the month of May. Portland has totaled 33 shots through its first two games of the month, but has produced just one goal. The team scored a league-high seven goals in April.

Portland sits in a two-way tie for second place in the USSF Division-2 Pro League's USL Conference with the Rochester Rhinos at 11 points. The Austin Aztex (4-1-1) hold the top spot in the conference table with 13 points.

The Timbers and Impact last met April 25 in Montreal, playing to a 1-1 draw. The Timbers took the lead late in the second half on a goal by Ryan Pore. The Impact then leveled the score in the 81st minute on a penalty-kick goal by Nevio Pizzolitto; forward Roberto Brown went down inside the box to set up the equalizer.

The Timbers are 8-3-3 all-time against the Impact since 2001. At PGE Park, the Timbers have posted a 4-2-1 record against Montreal and are unbeaten in the last four matchups (3-0-1) in the Rose City. The club's last loss to the Impact at home was a 1-0 defeat on Aug. 31, 2006.

The Timbers are without head coach Gavin Wilkinson for their two games this week while he is in Africa on a scouting and networking trip as part of his duties as the Timbers' technical director for the Major League Soccer franchise.
