Forward Brent Richards scored in his third consecutive match to lead the Portland Timbers U-23s to a 2-1 win over the Abbotsford Mariners at Gresham High School on Friday, and extend the club's winning streak to 13 games.
The Timbers U-23s (13-0-0, 39pts) also received a goal from midfielder Steven Evans in the victory as they move closer to clinching first place in the Premier Development League's Northwest Division. A detailed report will be available soon.
The Timbers U-23s play host to the Vancouver Whitecaps in their regular-season home finale Sunday at PGE Park; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available for purchase at the PGE Park box office.
