Popular soccer blog TheOriginalWinger.com and their fashion arm, Bumpy Pitch, created a T-shirt inspired by former Portland Timbers player and University of Portland head coach Clive Charles. Bumpy Pitch partnered with the Timbers Army and 107st to help create a fitting “Rose City” tribute to Charles.

The Timbers lost a friend and longtime supporter last Sunday. Gisele Currier, a fixture at Timbers matches atop Section 107 passed away on Sunday. Rachel Bachman at The Oregonian has a fitting obituary for the “matriarch” of the Timbers Army. Also, information on a May 10 memorial service.

Wonderfully-named German soccer magazine 11Freunde (11 Friends), did a Q & A with the now internationally-known Timber Joey. The discussion ranged from the history of Timber Joey — and Jim — chainsaws in stadiums and relationships with other mascots.


A warning, you might need to brush off your dust-covered German-to-English dictionary for this one, or use Google Translate and its often questionable grasp of the grammatical rules (or lack thereof) with most foreign languages.
