CenturyLink Man of the Match vs. Sporting KC: Bright Dike

MOTM @ SKC, Bright Dike

The Portland Timbers suffered a 3-1 setback on the road at Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night. Sporting KC, which has played well at home since opening LIVESTRONG Sporting Park in June, received a first-half brace by Graham Zusi and a second-half goal by Soony Saad.

After struggling to mount much of an offensive attack against SKC, Timbers' forward Bright Dike entered the game as a substitute marking just his second MLS regular season appearance since returning from surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon. Dike entered the contest in the 66th minute and 15 minutes later notched his first career MLS goal with a well-placed ball to the far post that slipped by an SKC defender and goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen. Despite the unfortunate scoreline, Dike's performance on the pitch earned him just more than 72 percent of the vote and the honor of being named the CenturyLink Man of the Match.
