Timbers' Nagbe wins another AT&T Goal of the Week nod

Darlington Nagbe, Jack Jewsbury, Diego Chara, Timbers vs. RSL, 3.31.12

Five goals scored and two AT&T Goal of the Week winners.

That's not a bad clip for Portland's Darlington Nagbe, who claimed his second GotW award for his 66th-minute volley against Real Salt Lake last weekend.

The former University of Akron star ran onto a pass at the top of the box, lifted the ball and proceeded to strike a curving volley through two defenders and past oustretched RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando.

It was his second goal of the night and second in a 17-minute span, which momentarily put Portland ahead 2-1. RSL, however, mounted a late comeback and snatch a 3-2 victory with a Kyle Beckerman stoppage-time goal that finished second in the AT&T Goal of the Week voting.

Nagbe nearly claimed half of the ballots to easily beat Beckerman, while Mehdi Ballouchy (New York Red Bulls), Maicon Santos (D.C. United) and Nick DeLeon (D.C. United) brought up the rear.

  1. Darlington Nagbe (POR) 46%
  2. Kyle Beckerman (RSL) 33%
  3. Mehdi Ballouchy (NY) 9%
  4. Maicon Santos (DC) 8%
  5. Nick DeLeon (DC) 5%
