PORTLAND, Ore. — Since 2008, the Portland Timbers have granted $403,450 to 90 youth-focused organizations in the Portland Metro Area through the Portland Timbers Community Fund (PTCF). In addition, the Portland Timbers and the City of Portland give $50,000 annually to help build and refurbish fields to increase access to sport and recreation throughout the city.

The PTCF, an advised fund of the Oregon Community Foundation, supports charitable, nonprofit organizations that are registered as a 501(c)(3), with tax-exempt status from the IRS and are located within one of the four surrounding counties of the Portland metro area. With the help from PTCF partners JELD-WEN Windows & Doors, Burgerville, Portland General Electric, Alaska Airlines and adidas, grants are given to organizations that are focused on youth education, youth sports, youth health and fitness and environmental awareness and activism with youth and families.

Over the last three seasons, the PTCF has increased its involvement with organizations dedicated to bettering our world. Since 2010, the PTFC has awarded $41,000 to the following organizations for programs focused on youth and environmental impact or awareness: Green Empowerment, Growing Gardens, The Freshwater Trust, Tualatin Hills Park Foundation, Audubon Society of Portland, Columbia Slough Watershed Council, Camp Fire Columbia, Girls Inc. of NW Oregon and the Council for Responsible Sport. These local organizations are committed to educating citizens about the environment and protecting natural areas.

The Timbers recognize that philanthropy is one of many ways to continue the journey towards a more sustainable environment and are committed to increasing sustainability efforts across all aspects of the company alongside our community outreach platform, Stand Together. Stand Together represents the relationship between the Portland Timbers and their fans and signifies the strong commitment we have to supporting and standing by our community both on and off the field. The Portland Timbers Stand Together mission is to harness the power of sport to improve the lives of children and families in our region through targeted programs, deep partnerships, and philanthropic giving.
