The first time the Portland TImbers played the San Jose Earthquakes this season, Danny Mwanga scored a goal.
On Wednesday night, having not started in over a month, Mwanga improved on that agains San Jose with a brace. Scoring at the end of the first half on a nifty give-and-go with Rodney Wallace, Mwanga followed that up with an absolute laser in the second half. His second goal was due in no small part to the near 40-yard run that Franck Songo'o took with the ball blowing past defenders before laying it off to an onrushing Mwanga.
Despite the heroics of this trio and the solid play of David Horst and Jack Jewsbury, San Jose came back to draw 2-2. Nevertheless, the Timbers remain unbeaten in MLS against San Jose and a large part of that is due to the goal scoring abilities of Mr. Danny Mwanga. With 43% of the vote, he is your CenturyLink Man of the Match.
