Portland Timbers Quotes

Portland Timbers head coach Caleb Porter
Overall thoughts on the game …
“Obviously disappointing. I didn’t think it was good enough. I didn’t think the performance was in line with what these guys are capable of and they know it. It’s not just the attack or the defending, it’s both sides of the ball. It’s not coming easy at the minute. I do think we’re getting punished, it seems like every chance the opponent gets is in the back of the net. The last three games we’ve given up the first goal on the first chance the opponent has gotten and any time you give up the first goal it changes the game. It makes it very difficult. But no excuses, it wasn’t good enough and it starts at the top with me. I take responsibility. My job is to prepare the team. My job to make sure they are organized and have the right mentality. And the players didn’t perform well today so I take responsibility for that. The good news is I know that these guys are a lot better than they are showing and I know that because I’ve seen it before, last year, it’s basically the same group. We have a few new guys in but it’s going to be better and it will be better but I’ve got to figure out why it hasn’t been good enough. We have a good locker room, and we have been in situations like this before, and we always find a way out of it. I know it will be the same with this group.”

Portland Timbers defender Nat Borchers
Thoughts on tonight’s game…
“It was a tough game, Orlando City was a difficult opponent and we need to change how we’re playing to get better as a group."

Orlando City SC Quotes

Orlando City SC Head Coach Adrian Heath
Thoughts on the game...
“Exceptional plays, great goals, big performances from a lot of players. As I said to the players after the game, if we believe in what we do and play with that same intensity, then certainly in this place with our supporters behind us we are a formidable force to deal with and it was a perfect storm with the fans. Incredible crowd even though it’s late on a Sunday night hats off to those supporters. Really pleased with the players.”

Orlando City SC forward Kaká
Thoughts on the win…
“It’s amazing we’re on top of the league and conference today and it gives us a lot of confidence. It gives us confidence for the next game and three more points.”
