USL MATCH PREVIEW | T2 to face Sacramento Republic FC at Merlo Field Sunday

PORTLAND, Ore. – T2 will close out their three-match homestand by playing host to Sacramento Republic FC on Sunday, April 17, at Merlo Field; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Pacific).



The match on Sunday marks the first of two regular-season meetings scheduled between T2 and Sacramento in 2016, as both teams are set to meet again on Aug. 20 at Bonney Field. Last season, T2 defeated Republic FC 2-1 on April 2 at Merlo Field in their second-ever home game, and finished with a win and two losses against Sacramento in their first USL season. 


T2 (0-3-0, 0pts) enter Sunday’s contest looking to rebound from a 2-0 defeat to Rio Grande Valley Toros FC at Merlo Field on April 8. Following Sunday’s match, T2 hit the road for their next three games, facing Orange County Blues FC on Wednesday, April 20; Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday, April 23, at ONEOK Field; and Arizona United SC on Saturday, April 30, at Peoria Sports Complex. 


Sacramento Republic FC (2-0-1, 7pts), the affiliate club of the San Jose Earthquakes, venture into Sunday’s contest looking to continue their undefeated start to the 2016 USL season. In the team’s last match on April 10, Sacramento played to a scoreless draw against Whitecaps FC 2 at UBC Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver, B.C.

Next up, T2 will travel to Southern California to play Orange County Blues FC on Wednesday, April 20, at Anteater Stadium on the campus of UC Irvine; kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific).
