MATCH PREVIEW


The Portland Timbers enter Wednesday’s match with one loss in their last four matches, compiling a 2-1-1 record during that stretch. Following a 2-1 loss on the road to Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, the Timbers head to Toyota Stadium with a 14-3-11 record immediately following a loss, dating back to the 2013 MLS campaign. In their last 10 regular-season meetings against FC Dallas, the Timbers have only lost on three occasions, scoring multiple goals in four of those contests. FC Dallas venture into Wednesday’s match on a three-game losing streak in league play dropping three points to Toronto FC, the New York Red Bulls and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. In each of those away contests, FC Dallas were held scoreless, conceding eight goals during that stretch.


LAST TIME VS. FC DALLAS


The Portland Timbers fell 3-1 to FC Dallas on April 13. In their first loss at home to FC Dallas in seven regular-season games played since 2011 (4-1-2), the Timbers, produced 13 overall shots in the game, but FC Dallas took the lead in the third minute and recorded three goals in the first half to build a 3-0 lead.

Wednesday’s match against FC Dallas marks the 15th regular-season meeting all-time between the two clubs since 2011. It is the eighth regular-season match at Toyota Stadium since 2011. Both teams met earlier this season on April 13 at Providence Park, with FC Dallas taking a 3-1 victory.


The Timbers have lost just three times in their last 10 regular-season meetings with FC Dallas (4-3-3), scoring multiple goals in four of those contests and com- piling 15 points. Wednesday’s game marks the second of three regular-season contests scheduled between Portland and FC Dallas in 2016, with both sides set to meet again on Sept. 3 at Toyota Stadium.

Sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference, FC Dallas is unbeaten in five games played at Toyota Stadium to begin the 2016 MLS season, producing a 3-0-2 record. Most recently, FC Dallas has tied twice and won one game in their last three matches at Toyota Stadium, defeating Sporting Kansas City 2-1 and drawing the San Jose Earthquakes 2-2 and Columbus Crew SC 1-1.
