USL MATCH PREVIEW | T2 travel to face Seattle Sounders FC 2 Sunday

PORTLAND, Ore. – After hosting two consecutive home matches, T2 will travel to play Cascadia-rival Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Starfire Stadium on Sunday, July 24; kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (Pacific).

The match on Sunday marks the third of four regular-season meetings between the two clubs in 2016, as they will meet again on Aug. 29 at Starfire Stadium. In the first two matchups of the season, T2 earned a 1-0 win at home at Providence Park on May 26, while Seattle defeated Portland 2-1 at Providence Park on June 14.

T2 (5-10-3, 18pts) come into Sunday’s match looking to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to LA Galaxy II on July 16 at Merlo Field. Portland defender Rennico Clarke, who made his third consecutive start, scored his first goal of the 2016 USL campaign when he headed home midfielder Neco Brett’s delivery from a corner kick in the 35th minute of the match. With Clarke’s finish, 10 different players have scored for T2 this season, with Victor Arboleda, Nick Besler, Villyan Bijev, Blake Bodily, Neco Brett, Kharlton Belmar, Dylan Damraoui, Andre Lewis and Ben Polk each recording goals through 18 games.

After defeating Arizona United SC 3-2 on July 16, Sounders FC 2 (5-9-5, 20 pts) head into Sunday’s game on a three-match unbeaten run. Forward Victor Mansaray, who last scored in a 2-1 win against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on July 10, leads the club with four goals this season. Forwards Andy Craven and Darwin Jones rank second on the team with three goals, while forward Myron Samuel leads Seattle with four assists.

Following Sunday’s game, T2 will play host to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Merlo Field on Wednesday, Aug. 3; kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific).
