T2 midfielder
Villyan Bijev
has been named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 24 for his two-goal performance in a 4-0 win against Oklahoma City Energy FC on Sept. 4 at Merlo Field.
Earning his second USL Team of the Week recognition in 2016, Bijev helped propel T2 to a 4-0 rout over Oklahoma City, scoring a goal in each half. After opening the scoring for T2, finishing from the penalty spot in the 35th minute, Bijev doubled Portland’s lead one minute into the second half, carefully placing midfielder Andre Lewis’ through ball into the back of the net from inside the 18-yard box.
The recognition marks the second time Bijev has been named to the USL Team of the Week this season, with the midfielder earning Team of the Week honors for Week 20 after recording two goals and an assist for T2 in a come from behind 4-3 win against LA Galaxy II at the StubHub Track & Field Stadium on Aug. 6.
