The reigning US Soccer Young Female Player of the Year put in a player-of-the-match performance in the USWNT W Gold Cup 2024 debut.
Carson, Calif. – Portland Thorns FC midfielder Olivia Moultrie continues to showcase her skills with the U.S. Women's National Team. Just a month after earning U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year, the 18-year-old had an impressive Concacaf W Gold Cup debut this week.
On Tuesday, Moultrie earned a start as the USWNT opened the group stage with a big win against Dominican Republic at Dignity Health Sports Park. She made the most of her 66 minutes of action, scoring twice to earn a special place in the U.S. Soccer record books and earn Player of the Match honors.
It would not take long for her to make her mark, netting her first senior international goal in just the eighth minute.
Moultrie and the squad's performance would not hinder, and she again found the back of the net shortly after the second half start. With a brace, Moultrie became just the third player aged 18 or younger to score multiple goals in a game for the USWNT. She joins legends Cindy Parlow Cone and Mia Hamm in that distinct category.
Her performance not only placed her name in the record book, but it also earned her Women of the Match.
Moultrie and the rest of the squad now prepare for Argentina, as they face off on Friday, Feb. 23, at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson at 7pm (Pacific).
