Ned Grabavoy | Timbers General Manager

Ned Grabavoy was named Portland Timbers general manager on Jan. 11, 2023, beginning his eighth year with the club. He is the second general manager in the Timbers MLS era. 

Since Grabavoy joined the Timbers’ technical staff in 2017, Portland has made five postseason runs (2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017) and two MLS Cup appearances (2021, 2018), while claiming the MLS is Back title in 2020.

He previously served as the club’s technical director (2019-22), overseeing all aspects of scouting, recruitment, and potential player acquisitions for the club in addition to roster management, construction, and player contract execution. After retiring from professional soccer in 2016, Grabavoy joined the technical staff in 2017 as the director of scouting and recruitment. 

A veteran of MLS for 13 years, Grabavoy made 316 league appearances, winning two MLS Cups (2004, 2009) and a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title (2005), playing his final MLS season in 2016 with the Timbers. 

The 14th overall pick in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft out of Indiana University, Grabavoy began his professional career with the LA Galaxy. He spent three seasons with the Galaxy (2004-06) before playing stints with Columbus Crew SC (2006-07), the San Jose Earthquakes (2008), Real Salt Lake (2009-14) and New York City FC (2016).

Ned and his wife Monica are parents to twins Charlotte and James, and live in Lake Oswego.
