2013 Stand Together Week Day Five: Volunteering activity takes over city

Futty Danso, 2013 Stand Together Week, Community Cycling Center

As the 2013 Stand Together Week turns to the stretch run, activity and projects kept busy on Day Five.

Timbers defender Futty Danso helped repair bikes at the Community Cycling Center while Thorns forward Elizabeth Guess helped with Playworks. Timbers Alumni Ambassadors got into the act with Mick Hoban helping build blood drive kits with Thorns midfielder Becky Edwards at The Red Cross and Bernie Fagan lending a hand at the Jason Lee School. Volunteers from CenturyLink worked with Timber Joey at the Children's Book Bank and much more.

The 2013 Stand Together Week, sponsored by Alaska Airlines, adidas, CenturyLink, Coca-Cola and Providence Health and Services, has involved hundreds of volunteers, Timbers and Thorns players and staff, and numerous community partners. See a photo album of some of the work being done across Portland.
