The 2022 MLS regular season schedule is here! While every Timbers game is a must-watch affair here is a quick collection of ones to definitely mark your calendar for.

Home/Season Opener

Feb. 26 – Timbers vs. New England | 4:30pm PT, FOX

The reigning Western Conference Champions Portland Timbers open 2022 with their earliest start to the season ever hosting the 2021 Supporters’ Shield winners, the New England Revolution, at Providence Park. Featuring the 2021 Landon Donovan MLS MVP in Carles Gil, the Revs come to the Rose City having set a league record in 2021 for most points in a season (73).

Cascadia Cup Rivalry

Apr. 9 – Timbers @ Vancouver | 6:30pm PT
July 9 – Timbers @ Seattle | 1:30pm PT, FOX
July 17 – Timbers vs. Vancouver | 7:30pm PT
Aug. 26 – Timbers vs. Seattle | 7pm PT, ESPN

The Cascadia Cup is a trophy organized by the supporters groups of Portland, Seattle and Vancouver and is awarded to the team with the best record between the three teams in intra-team regular season play. Though the Sounders are the current cup-holders, any Portland game between either of these Northwest giants help write new chapters in the best soccer rivalries in North America.

Conference Battles on National TV

Mar. 6 – Timbers @ LAFC | 7pm PT, FS1
Oct. 2 – Timbers vs. LAFC | 12pm PT, ABC

While Los Angeles FC may not yet be at the level of Seattle in terms of Portland’s regional rivalry, there’s no denying that a game between the Green-and-Gold and the Black-and-Gold brings out fireworks and drama. Both matches against them this year will be on national television.

MLS is Back Tournament Rematch

Mar. 27 – Timbers vs. Orlando City | 1pm PT, ESPN

One of only eight teams that Portland will face from the Eastern Conference, Orlando City’s visit to Providence Park marks a rematch of the 2020 MLS is Back Tournament final that Portland won 2-1 at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Florida.

2018 MLS Cup Rematch

Sept. 4 – Timbers vs. Atlanta United | 2:30pm PT, FOX

Speaking of rematches, in September, the Timbers will play Atlanta United at Providence Park in a huge match on FOX. Portland has hot played against the Five Stripes since 2019.

MLS Decision Day

Oct. 9 – Timbers @ RSL | MLS Decision Day | 2pm PT

Portland closes out the 2022 regular season on MLS Decision Day against Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium. The last day of the regular season is often a wild affair with teams jockeying for playoff spots and postseason seeding.
