The Generation adidas Cup is an annual tournament among U-17 academy teams of MLS with the Portland Timbers U-16s traveling to Dallas, Tex. to take part in. They lost their first game against Colombia's Independiente Medellín youth squad 3-1 but Villegas, back from U.S. U-15 national team camp, put on a clinic throughout the match.
