Academy Update: Jose Perez tallies another brace as Timbers U-16s earn draw and win over the weekend

In the second on consecutive home matches, forward Jose Perez (McMinnville, Ore.) registered two goals to help lead the Timbers U-16s to a 3-1 win over Juventus Sport Club U-16s on Sunday at the adidas Timbers Training Center in Beaverton, Ore. The brace marks Perez’s third multi-goal performance of the season, as he leads the Timbers U-16s with six goals in six games.

Against Juventus Sport Club U-16s, Perez scored twice in the first half, including a marker just before halftime before Carlos Anguiano (Salem, Ore.) sealed the win for the Timbers U-16s (2-2-2, 8pts) with a goal in the 57th minute. Perez ranks eighth in the nation in goals and second in the Northwest Division.

On Saturday, the Timbers U-16s played to a scoreless draw against the San Jose Earthquakes U-16s. Following the weekend’s results, the Timbers U-16s are undefeated in three consecutive regular-season matches, outscoring their opponents 8-1 in the process.

The Timbers U-18s (1-3-1, 4pts) fell 3-0 to the San Jose Earthquakes U-18s on Saturday and lost a hard-fought match, 1-0, against Juventus Sport Club U-18s despite dominating possession.

Following a scheduling change, the Timbers Academy teams face off against Cascadia-rival Seattle Sounders FC Academy teams at the adidas Timbers Training Center in Beaverton, Ore. on Saturday, Nov. 1. Kickoff for the U-18s is set at 12 noon (Pacific), with the U-16s squaring off at 2:30 p.m. (Pacific).
